Joe Blair Garden Supply, a family owned and operated business, was established in 1928. Joe Blair arrived in Miami from Tennessee and opened a feed and fertilizer store on NE 79 street to distribute products to local farms and nurseries. Blair sold the business to Frank Baxter, his first driver, who subsequently transitioned the feed and fertilizer business into an outdoor power equipment retail location. Frank, with his son Bob Baxter, daughter Betty Lou Shoaf, and son-in-law David Henry Shoaf, grew the business for thirty years until the leadership of the business was passed on to cousins John Baxter and David Lee Shoaf. Under their direction, the business was transformed into a South Florida leader in the outdoor power equipment industry. Today David Lee Shoaf owns and operates the business with the help of three of his children, David Joseph, Jonathan and Elizabeth.
